Ellie Weinert, a native of Norwalk, Connecticut, started her career in the German music business in 1971 as a professional manager with BMG/UFA Music Publishing. After seven years she then worked for Global Music and the label Global Records as A&R Manager for seven years before launching the tip sheet „Songs Wanted“. Due to her reputation and expertise in the German music industry the US tradepaper „Billboard“ called upon her as a German correspondent for twelve years as well working as a free-lance writer for „Music and Media“, „Rolling Stone“ and the German tradepapers „Musikmarkt“ and „MusikWoche“.

From 2003 to 2008 Ellie Weinert conducted the singer/songwriter concert series „Songwriters Live!“ in Munich, Hamburg and Berlin which presented such luminaries as Graham Lyle („What's Love Got to Do With It“), Paul Brady („Steelclaw“), Candy de Rouge („Power of Love“), the Falco songwriters and producers Rob & Ferdi Bolland („Rock Me Amadeus“), plus numerous local established and upcoming singer/songwriters e.g. the band Ich + Ich (Annete Humpe & Adel Tawil), Gunther Gabriel, Pe Werner, Claudia Koreck and many more.

„Songs Wanted“ is an institution known to 90% of the German music industry from record company Managing Directors, A&R Managers, to all major music publishers, record producers, recording studios, artists, management companies, concert promoters as well as to organisations such as GEMA, the German Federation of Music Industry Association (BVMI), German Music Publishers Association (DMV), German Lyricists Guilde (Deutsche Textdichterverband), Composers Association (Komponisten Verband) and the German Rock-Pop Musicians Association.

Success stories include songs recorded by international artists such as Christina Aguilera, Natalie Imbruglia, Sheena Easton, Sally Oldfield , Johnny Logan as well as scoring domestic chart hits by top chart artists such as Wolfgang Petry, Roland Kaiser, Höhner, Flippers, Tobias Regner, Christina Stürmer and many more.
